Destilaria Veredas
With a daily milling capacity of 6,000 tons of sugarcane, Destilaria Veredas is a sugar-energy company located in the Municipality of João Pinheiro, Northwestern Region of Minas Gerais; it began its operations in 2008.
Using state-of-the-art techniques, Destilaria Veredas produces high quality, great-efficiency Anhydrous and Hydrated Ethanol, which generates Liters of Ethanol Vs Ton of Sugarcane within the national average.
Destilaria Veredas uses 100% of its raw material. The distillery’s daily capacity is 500,000 liters of Hydrated Ethanol or 450,000 liters of Anhydrous Ethanol, high-quality renewable fuels available in the national market; the mill produces 20,000 kilos/day of hydrolyzed sugarcane bagasse for animal feed, and up to 7,0MWh (Megawatt-hour) of electricity, which makes it self-sufficient in the generation of electrical power.
Within the agricultural sector, Destilaria Veredas is also a benchmark company in good practices, as well as in balancing recognized techniques and the modern technologies. With a total project area of 20,000 hectares, 11,000 of which are dedicated to the implementation of cane fields, the company prepares for a new era that starts with the adoption of precision farming; it was also the first company in its sector to adopt the fertilized irrigation with stillage via a remotely assisted pressurized underground network. The fertilized irrigation of stillage, associated with the distribution of cake filter – another by-product of Ethanol – and mechanized harvest contribute to the integration of the organic material in the soils, thus making them more fertile and productive.
In the environmental sector, Destilaria Veredas maintains a set of control and monitoring practices for air, water and soil quality, as well as programs for environmental education and for the conservation and recovery of fauna and flora in preservation areas with the support of Universities.
Aware of its prominence within the region, Destilaria Veredas takes good care of its social responsibility; in addition to generating 380 direct jobs, the company also contributes to the social-economic development of the neighboring populations by offering qualification and professional training courses via partners such as SENAR.
